Harthill Primary School

‘A school at the heart of its village’

Mrs Bothma Y3/4

Welcome to Mrs Bothma’s class

As part of their Anglo-Saxons work, the children have worked together to create an authentic looking Anglo-Saxon village. The children discussed the types of buildings which would be found in such settlement, what they would have been used for, and the materials needed to build them. Can you spot the look out tower?

As part of our Design Technology we have been trying to create igloos made from sugar cubes. First, the children had to design their igloo then decide how to hold the sugar cubes together. Next, the pupils wrote out a list of the resources they would need. As you can see, they are now in the process of creating their wonderful designs. The children will then discuss what went well and what they would change if they were to build their igloo again.

Happy New Year!

I hope you are all having a wonderful break and managing to spend some quality time with families and friends.

Building Site

Exciting times are ahead as we hold our breath to see if some of the new build will be in place for after the Christmas holidays! Work has been running to schedule and our mud pit is ever closer to becoming an amazing new building… Thank you to all for your patience and support while this all takes place. Your children are a real credit to you as they have accepted all the new routines, systems and regulations put in place and are showing themselves to be rather resilient in the face of mud, welly sheds and fences all around!

Sending in Letters and Payments

We can no longer accept payments from January over the office counter. Could we politely remind parents to post all cash/cheques and slips being sent in to school into the payment box. We are getting a larger slot box and this will still be located on the wall outside Mrs Rayner’s office and can only be accessed by office staff so any money posted is safe.  Please clearly label and seal money into envelopes, if you need envelopes these are provided by the side of the payment box, and if any change is due it will be sent home at the end of the day with your child.  Many thanks in advance for your cooperation as this does help the office be more time effective.
