English:
This week we will look at poetry. Linking to our science from previous week's learning.
Read the poem The nut tree by Julia Donaldson.
Activity 1
Act out the actions, as if you are a little nut. Ask other members of your family to choose a part of the poem, but not to tell you which part. They act it out and you try a guess which part of the poem it is. Perform the poem as a show to other members even the pets will watch you.
Activity 2
Read the poem and find the rhyming words.
Next sequence the poem in the correct order. The pages are on the PDF link below to print out.
Activity 3
Choose a different life cycle and have a go at writing your own poem.
E.g. The butterfly life cycle. Written by Miss V.
Tiny, soft, ball, white,
The egg lays still out of sight.
Now the egg begins to hatch,
Need to find a vegetable patch!
Crunch, munch,
What's for lunch?
Crawl, wiggle, growing bigger,
Time to change my caterpillar figure.
Spin, weave, turn around,
In my cocoon without a sound.
Nibble, wiggle, oh it's tight.
Imerge, spread my wings..what a wonderful sight!
Happy poem writing year 1 :-)
