English, Phonics & Spelling
English:
This week we will look at non-fiction writing. We use non-fiction texts to gather information as they provide us with facts. Watch the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ly6qU7k0Mg
This is a lovely non-fiction text in the style of fiction (story). The information is all about the Blue Whale. Whales are one of my favourite animals on our beautiful planet.
Activity 2
With your adult or older brother/sister, research facts about other whales. Choose a whale and complete another fact sheet (use the blank one below.) There is a box at the bottom of the page, this is for page numbers, as you complete more sheets you will make up your own booklet all about whales. Note you will have to research more than two whales to make a book. Challenge yourself to see how many you can find.
Activity 3
Now that you have several fact sheets about whales, you can make your book. You will need a contents page and a front cover.
A contents page lists down the name of the whale and which page you will find it on.
The front cover needs to grab the reader. It needs to make the reader want to look inside. Remember to put a title and the author which is you.
You could also include a 'Did you know?' page. This page could include interesting facts, here are some examples.
