Watch the video below which will tell you a pronoun is.  Complete the quiz and then complete the activity below.

Pronoun  - this is used instead of a noun; it avoids repetition.

For example:

Mrs Pridmore likes chocolate cake.  Mrs Pridmore does not like to share food.  Mrs Pridmore is greedy.

Using pronouns to avoid repetition this would become:

Mrs Pridmore likes chocolate cake.  She does not like to share food.  The teacher is greedy.

After you have watched the video clip see if you can list pronouns for the following:

  • Jake
  • Doris
  • A tiger
  • A car

Example:

Mrs Hamilton (Noun)

Prounoun:

  • The lady
  • She
  • The Learning Support Assistant

English

Today, we are going to start writing our narrative.  I would like you to write your introduction.  Try and get some of the information from your 5 Ps in there.  I have decided to start with 'period' and then add in a bit of 'people'.

When I was writing, I made sure included some of our learning from last week.

Here's a checklist for you of some of the things I would like you to include in your writing today:

  • adjectives
  • adverbs
  • coordinating conjunctions (and, but, so)
  • subordinating conjunctions  (because, when, after, although)
  • pronouns

Don't forget to hook your reader.

English - Thursday 21st January 2021

I have attached the sheet below which will remind you what you need to include for each of your 5 Ps.

We will be writing in paragraphs but your evidence can be displayed throughout your writing.
