‘A school at the heart of its village’

Tuesday

SPaG: Use the links below to watch the videos about prepositions and adverbs. Afterwards, log on to SPaG.com and select 'Prepositions and adverbs (A)'. Complete this learning activity.

Reading Comprehension - Captain Sir Tom Moore: Re-read the text on page 1 then...

1. Use the language of inference prompt below to discuss and explore the text further. If this could be done alongside an adult or even another pupil in class, it would be highly beneficial.

2. Explore the vocabulary and phrases that you highlighted (or wrote down) yesterday. Read around the word to deduce the meaning. Used its word class to help: is the word a noun, adjective, verb, adverb, pronoun etc.?

Vocabulary, from the text, that I think would be useful to explore -

  • Remarkable
  • What the 'rank of captain' in the army entails
  • Dispatch rider
  • Types of things that you do to e knighted by The Queen

Equivalent FDP. Watch the video then answer the Maths questions below.

Equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages

Writing - The big picture for this week is to use figurative language skills and sound devices (learning from last week) to create a song about the year 2020. Remember, the expectation is that your song will have enough lyrics for at least one verse and one chorus. Following on from yesterday's note-taking, today's learning activity is to plan for the lyrics for your song about 2020. Watch my video which models how to do this and then use the planning sheet to write down your ideas.
