‘A school at the heart of its village’

Year 5

Welcome to Year 5

Welcome back to the Summer Term! I hope you have had a lovely holiday and that your children are ready for the term ahead.  I was very impressed with the children’s hard work last term and this can be seen in their achievement across the curriculum.  There are many things to look forward to including an exciting topic called ‘Invade! Invade! Invade!’
Over the Easter holidays it was fantastic to the children who had been reading regularly on Bug Club.  It would be lovely to see everyone using the resources and playing on the games.  If your child has misplaced their username and password, please come and see me and I can give you another one.

We've also got the exciting reading challenge this term, so don't forget to bring your pieces of work in so we can reward you with stickers, and you know what stickers mean.......PRIZES!!!

Who's Who?

Important routines in Year 5

  • Spellings are given out on Mondays and tested the following Friday.
  • Reading scrapbooks are to be handed in on Mondays. It is important you encourage your child to read for at least 10 to 20 minutes a day, depending on age (more if they are enjoying the story or       information in the book). In Year 5, your child needs to log their own reading and complete at least three activities a week. Please add your own comments as you wish!
  • Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday. Your child will need an indoor PE kit (Plain white t-shirt and black shorts) and an outdoor kit (tracksuit and trainers rather than pumps please as we use the ball court and playing field which can get very muddy!
