A warm welcome from our headteacher Mrs Littlewood

Welcome to our school website! We are a small, one form entry village school who prides ourselves on being

"A school at the heart of its community"

Our Vision Statement

Our values of Belonging, Ambition, Resilience and Kindness are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our academic, social and emotional and personal development offer to all our pupils and create an ethos where all children are valued and given quality opportunities to thrive in order to support them to become confident, happy and effective learners who in the future will be ready to make positive contributions to society.

Belonging

Harthill Primary School is a vibrant learning community where everyone’s contribution makes a difference. We believe in high quality, recipricol and mutually respectful relationships, teaching our children to become reflective people who can regulate themselves appropriately. We strive to ensure everyone coming into our school feels welcome, happy and safe and we teach children how to take responsibility for this, with support from our dedicated team. Understanding the world around them and how they fit into it is the first building block of how our children develop their ability to make a positive impact to our ever-changing world. We believe this starts in our learning community but that we will equip them with the skills to make their own futures bright.

Belonging aims:

  • To create a welcoming and friendly environment for all pupils, staff and visitors.

  • To teach children about the world around them and how they can make positive contributions to what it will look in the future.

Ambition

Through an enjoyable and ambitious curriculum, we want our children to be motivated to maximise their potential, achieve high standards in all subjects and aspire to reach their personal goals. We have high expectations of our pupils and use a “scaffold up” approach to support children to achieve and progress well. We strive for our children to feel successful in a wide range of subjects and give them opportunity to explore and achieve in their own areas of interest. Through accessing prior learning, acquiring new learning and applying essential learning, children are given the opportunity to build their understanding year on year, preparing for the next phase after they leave our school.

Ambition aims:

  • To create a stimulating and supportive learning environment in which every child feels secure, significant and worthwhile.

  • To teach children the knowledge and skills that they need to succeed in their learning, to prepare them for the next phase of their education.

Resilience

We aim for our children to be confident, independent learners who are reflective, resilient risk takers who communicate effectively and believe in their own abilities enough to strive for their own successes. We aspire for every child to be a creative thinker, using their initiative to apply skills to solve problems in a range of contexts. Through a stimulating curriculum, we set high expectations for our children and teach the value of resilience to encourage positive attitudes to learning, a growth mindset and an appetite for success where they recognise their own role in their achievements. We want them to adopt a can do attitude to all they approach, to become increasingly independent in their learning and to recognise all they can accomplish with a resilient approach.

Resilience aims:

  • To develop in the children positive attitudes towards learning, aiming for their personal best in all they undertake.

  • To inspire and support children to want to do their best, learn from their mistakes and feel proud of their achievements.

Kindness

We aim for our pupils to leave us as happy individuals who hold positive memories of their experiences at our school. We want them to hold the true value of kindness and what it means to support each other, to show those around them care and attention and to develop respectful and considerate outlooks to life. In doing this, we believe they will learn to communicate effectively, build quality successful relationships and develop life-long skills which will result in them being positive, productive and above all kind members of society as they grow into the wonderful adults we know they will be.

Kindness aims:

  • To support children to understand the impact of their actions and develop respect for the needs, opinions, feelings and property of others.

  • To promote valuing the contribution of others, being considerate people and making the right choices for the right reasons.
